Jodette Wheat, M.A.,L.C.P.C., is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor who has enjoyed working in the field for over 20 years.  She completed her Masters Degree in Community Counseling at Chicago State University in 1996 and earned her Clinical Professional Counseling license soon thereafter.  Mrs. Wheat’s clinical work is focused in the area of child/adolescent mental health.  She has special interest in the treatment of anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder and various behavioral issues. Her experience leaves her well versed in the understanding of mental health presentations that include a history of trauma and abuse.

Mrs. Wheat developed specialized child/adolescent assessment and psychotherapy skills during her 10 years of work with supervised therapy programs focused on children and their families.  She successfully implemented cognitive/behavioral approaches to assist child/adolescent development and learning and utilized supportive psychotherapy techniques to address trauma histories.  In addition, Mrs. Wheat has long-term experience and currently maintains work within school settings to assist adolescents in managing their emotional, behavioral, social, and learning disorders.

Mrs. Wheat is open, conscientious, and uses a creative therapy style to form positive, healthy relationships with her clientele.  She assists her clients in developing appropriate skills and techniques to use in their daily lives.  She has an excellent ability to understand the client and to assist the client in creating solid solutions.

Mrs. Wheat is a member of the Illinois Counseling Association and the Illinois School Counselor Association.
