Our Services

 Parenting Issues

Providing direction and support through collaborative therapy, parents can become more effective in their parenting style or when working with a particular child's needs. Encouraging individuals who may feel overwhelmed with the demands of parenting, by helping them to identify and focus on problem areas, regardless of the child's age.

 Grief Counseling

Therapy can provide assistance in dealing with the death of a loved one, by
developing coping techniques and finding resilience in the face of loss. Grief may
also be triggered by the loss of something or someone very important in one’s life
such as a broken engagement, through relocation, or the loss of independence
due to a medical condition or disease. Grief counseling can help a family or an
individual to find direction, and continue their life after a significant loss.

 Older Adult Issues

There are a number of age-related changes that occur naturally in later life,
whether on a physical, cognitive or situational level. These changes may present
new challenges, some of which may be difficult to navigate or may become
a source of significant stress. Therapy can provide support and assistance,
whether by addressing these new challenges or revisiting issues from earlier in
one’s life that may resurface or become problematic in later adulthood.

 Stress/Anxiety Management

Your doctor will assess whether you need help with stress management or
if life stressors have triggered anxiety symptoms, which may be addressed
with various psychotherapies or medication or both. It is crucial that anxiety
symptoms be recognized and treated quickly. Anxiety can be like a slow burning
fire which can cause significant, chronic low level distress or erupt unexpectedly
in to panic attacks or evolve in to depression.

 Coping with Medical Problems

Whether you or a loved one is dealing with an unexpected health crisis or a
chronic condition, such as diabetes, heart disease, cancer or neurological
conditions, medical problems can cause significant psychological distress. Your
doctor will help you find the best ways to cope and strategies for dealing with
your particular situation.

 Women's Issues

Women are particularly vulnerable to anxiety and mood disorders during
hormonal transitions which occur at various stages of life, including premenstrual
syndrome, pregnancy, postpartum and menopause. Your doctor will work with
you to anticipate and plan for dealing with those issues to reduce the damaging
impact anxiety and depression may have at any stage of life.

 Family Therapy

Your doctor will work with you and your family members to learn to communicate
more clearly and effectively to reduce and resolve conflict, improve problem
solving and address old issues which may be creating dysfunction. Family
therapy can help families to understand and deal with psychiatric conditions from
which one member may suffer. Family therapy can address parenting issues,
difficulties with in-laws or extended families, helping blended families to become
a more cohesive unit or many other situations where families want to function in
healthier ways.

 Psychiatric Medication Management

After a comprehensive evaluation, your psychiatrist may recommend medication
or your psychologist may refer you for a psychiatric assessment to see if
medication could be helpful for you. Our psychiatrists practice evidence based
medicine and will carefully explain the rationale for any medication prescribed
and its risks and benefits.
